To ensure all students are effective and ethical users and creators of information in a changing world.
The South Portland Library Department strives to provide students and faculty with the following:
The Skillin Library is for families! Parents and family members may come and check out books or send in a request for books for their child. Just send Ms. Stanbro an email or send in a note through your child's teacher.
Parents and Families-no limits
Pre-K & Kindergarten-1 book
1st & 2nd grade -2 books
3rd grade - 3 books
4th & 5th grade - 4 books
Ensuring that all students have access to quality reading materials is an essential part of school. All students, regardless of outstanding loans, can check books out and keep them in school.
We treat lost, overdue, and damaged books as an educational opportunity for your child in keeping with our 21st Century Skill Standard for Initiative and Responsibility. If a child has reached his or her lending limit, or has overdue books, we will ask that no more books go home until those books are returned or renewed.
We do not want any student unable to bring home books because of a lost book. If you think a book checked out to your child is lost, please contact the library so that we can begin a search here at school. Most lost books are found.
To maintain the quality of the collection, we ask families to pay for lost or destroyed while in your care. We accept donations or partial payments as well. We do not charge any fines for late returns.
