All South Portland Residents are able to use the Portland Public Library's e-book collection.
Step 1: Have your parent e-mail lending@portlib.org to get your online library card.
Step 2: Once you have been e-mailed you library barcode and pin: click here to see the Library's e-book collection are also directions on how to download books on different devices. Remember when you log-in, select your library as Portland, Maine.
The Bikes for Books program is on!
Despite the closure, Hiram Lodge #180 would still like to recognize students in Grades 3-5 who are exercising their love of reading with the chance to win a new bike!
How the Program Works:
All third, fourth and fifth grade students are invited to write a reflection for every book read between now and May 31st. Reflections should include the title of the book, author, whether or not the student recommends the book, and a brief summary. Reflections should be filled out in the Google Form below. When a reflection is submitted, the student is entered into a drawing for a free bike and helmet. The idea is simple. The more books read, the more opportunities you have to win a new bike! Each third through fifth grade classroom in South Portland will have two winners, making a grand total of 70 bikes given away across the city.
The recipients of the bikes will be notified on Wednesday, June 3rd. The district will then coordinate delivery of the bikes in accordance with CDC recommendations.
